Great Strides Begin with A Step. Make the Step towards Active Lifestyle with 100PLUS

Singapore, 21 November 2016 – 100PLUS has been a strong supporter of sports development and advocator of an active lifestyle. Whether it is a marathon race, a school’s sports competition, a major sporting event or your daily exercise routine, 100PLUS has always been present to support a healthy lifestyle. 100PLUS is proud to be one of the main partner of the Health Promotion Board’s Season 2 of the National Steps Challenge™. The National Steps Challenge™ is a nationwide physical activity programme that encourages Singaporeans to be physically active every day, anytime and anywhere.

Into its second installment, the Challenge seeks to nudge participants to take more steps daily, and to reward them for sustained behaviorr, shifting the focus to a simple, behavioral change goal, such that it becomes a norm. Studies have shown that small increments in activity volume are associated with improved health outcomes. For a sedentary adult, walking the recommended 7,500 to 10,000 steps daily lowers high blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of all-cause mortality by 19% and aids glucose control in Type 2 diabetes[1].

As we become more physically active by taking more steps, our body is set to lose plenty of body fluid. It is therefore important to keep the body hydrated. 100PLUS is specially formulated to effectively hydrate the body and replenish lost minerals with electrolytes to combat the effects of dehydration, heat and exertion. A cool bottle of 100PLUS also makes a welcome refreshing treat to re-energise in hot and humid Singapore or a rejuvenating companion to any meal.

Turning steps into rewards with 100PLUS
Covering 10,000-steps a day can be done easily. For example, balancing the daily commute with a few minutes walk between bus stops and train stations helps turning idle moments waiting for bus to arrive into a healthier lifestyle option. Not only walking aids in getting us more active, it can also be a relaxing affair that makes our day. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator also helps. All these little steps count towards a healthier living.

14-Serangoon-MRT (3)
100PLUS seeks to help individuals take their first steps towards active living. Instead of waiting for buses, 100PLUS urges commuters to walk to the nearest MRT station to clock steps for the 10,000steps-a-day goal.
A series of out-of-home displays are deployed at bus stops to give all the information needed – from the number of steps to the duration and the distance covered – to convert every commute into the best part of the day. The tailored messages prompt bus commuters to take a few hundred steps more to their next destination.

To support Singaporeans’ endeavour to complete 10,000 steps a day and keep them cool and hydrated, consumers can participate in #MoveWith100PLUS movement and stand a chance to win up to $6,000 worth of prizes. To participate, simply snap a photo or a video of how you incorporate movement into your day and upload it on www.movewith100plus.com or post it on Instagram with hashtag #MoveWith100PLUS. Five most creative and inspiring entries will win $100 worth of vouchers each every week. Consumers can also stand a chance to win big by sharing their photos consecutively for seven days. Four most creative and inspiring series of posts will walk away with a prize of their choice worth up to $1,000. Contest ends on 4 December 2016.

For more information on this contest, please visit www.movewith100plus.com.

Have fun this Christmas at Santa's All Stars Celebration, Universal Studios Singapore with the Universal Journey. ( Video )

Marilyn Monroe was nice to fill my request for a good spin.

Is going to be a dazzling Christmas Wonderland at the Universal Studios Singapore (USS) with this year Universal Journey, an all-new experiential festive light display. I am glad I get to have a sneak preview. This is my first time visiting USS as a media personnel. Truly exciting. Even more exciting than going with my family. I get to go "behind the scene" of this internationally acclaimed theme park.

The annual Santa's All Stars Christmas celebration will illuminate the holiday season. In fact, we were invited to witness the the presentation of Guinness World Records title for the largest light bulb display in an indoor space. To be exact, the display has 824,961 light bulbs.

Visitors embarked on the Universal Journey will venture through eight thematic zones from the Enchanted Pine Forest to Herald's Square.

The enchanted wonderland with snowfall, fireworks, festive light displays, as well as musical performances and appearances by the park's very own all-star cast decked out in their Christmas outfits will be held from 1 December 2016 to 2 January 2017. Take note of the period dates if you are coming to enjoy this year festive season.

Besides the Universal Journey, two new experiences, Santa's Village and a music-filled show titled Bah Humbug! Well, it a Christmas Spectacular. Showcasing 17 all-star  cast in one musical extravaganza. Philanthropist-turned-budding director Ebenezer Scrooge is calling in popular characters such as the Minions, Little Match Girl, Snow Queen and Sesame Street friends who will delight audiences with magical song and dance moments at the Pantages Hollywood Theater. Hopefully I get to watch it with my family.

At the Santa's Village, visitors will be able to explore the picturesque to relive their fondest childhood memories. A lot of activities will be happening and interactive stations, quaint village where talking reindeer, the fame Gingerbread Man, Shoemaker, Santa on his sleigh, are all there to meet and great visitors. Wow ! What a memorable Christmas !

A candid shot of Marilyn Monroe

Betty Boop pose for my shot

Universal Studios Singapore also recently won the award for the Most Creative Property-Wide Event for its pervious edition of Santa's All-Star Christmas at the 2016 International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Brass Ring Awards. The award is an honorable achievement of excellence among the global attractions industry.

At the Lagoon Stage in the Hollywood zone, DJ Eddy Elf's Christmas Radio Station will bring up the Christmas mood for visitors. Take part in wacky games such as Carol-OKE to win prizes. Marilyn Monroe and Betty Boop will bring Hollywood glamour to this year's Christmas.

Expected fireworks displays on selected nights as well as hourly snowfall and multimedia light shows. Park hours are extended till 9pm every night for visitors to experience thrills on blockbuster rides and attractions.

Entertainer offer 1 to 1 Complimentary Main Course at the Home of Sticky Bones, Morganfield. Have you tasted ?

BBQ Restaurants have traditionally been popular in USA. Morganfield or also known as Home of Sticky Bones. has the spirit of Southern hospitality with a flavor of new breed of New Yorker restaurants.

I was invited by Entertainer for lunch at this popular restaurant. Naturally I was excited when I came to know that we are having BBQ Pork-Ribs which was one of my favorites. Seriously, I have seen so much of the American BBQ ribs in my home TV Travel Channel, the chance of savoring them, was a dream come true. These prime pork ribs are slow-cooked and smoked to mouth-watering perfection which then covered with a sweet and tangy hickory flavored BBQ sauce. Let not waste any more time. Get into to the food review.

Great offerings by The Entertainer apps giving a complimentary main course if you purchase a main course of the same price or more. The offer only valid up to 30 Dec 2016. ( Take note : You need to purchase the apps if you do not have one. )

Loaded Chilli Nachos

Who love spicy food ? I do. This Chili loaded Nachos make you hot. With a wide variety of toppings which include spring onions, tomato, sour cream all "rojak" onto tortilla chips to wake your senses. Try it if you are there.

Pop Corn Pork

I remember the last time I had something similar from KFC except it is chicken instead of pork. This Pop Corn Pork tasted much better and tender and together with the dipping sauce, it is an enjoyable dish and if you have a lot of friends sharing it, be quick, otherwise it will be disappear almost instantly. You have been warned !

Morganfield's Hickory BBQ Sticky Bones

One may asked. "Why did we come to Morganfield Restaurant ?" As mentioned earlier, it is the home of Sticky Bones. BBQ Pork Ribs in Hickory sauce is the restaurant Signature dish. The meat are so tender that they are easily separated from the bones. Slow cooked, with hickory smoke, basted with signature Hickory BBQ sauce, definitely a mouth-watering dish. Great for the meat lovers.

Smoked Peppercorn Sticky Bones

In the home of Sticky Bones, fans of black pepper, will love this. Served with Red Skin Mashed Potatoes & Garden Veggies.

Garlic BBQ Sticky Bones

Truly the home of Sticky Bones. This dish called out to Garlic lovers. The goodness of garlic, tangy, sweet and spicy. Served with French Fries & Coleslaw. Simply delicious.

Spicy Asian BBQ Sticky Bones

Another flavor of Sticky Bones with Spices. The BBQ ribs are succulent with an Oriental flavor.

 Beer Battered Fish Fillets

Americans love their famous fish & Chips. At Morganfield restaurant, this dish carry the American tradition into Singapore. Crispy golden tender brown Hoki fish fillet with Morgainfield's housemade beer batter, topped up Fretnch Fries & Coleslaw. Not too oily. Yummy!

Crayfish Mac & Cheese

An ultimate combination with chunks of delectable crayfish in creamy mac & cheese. Americans too have their own comfort food and this is one of them. Together with Garden Salad, this dish will provide a balance ingredients for a good hearty meal, giving you the "Wow" factor when you have your first bite.

Smokehouse Bacon Cheeseburger

Unbelievably juicy with delicious Hickory BBQ sauce spread across the caramelized onions, lettuce and tender grilled beef patty with added cheddar cheese and crispy pork bacon, makes me a happy and satisfied diner.

 Chicken BLT

Most of the burgers are served with a side dish of french fries. The same goes for this burger. This chicken burger contained char-grilled boneless chicken thigh topped with Honey Mustard, served in a warm, buttered sesame bun together with Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato. Quite an innovative way to name a dish.

Chocolate Lava Cake

After a heavy meal, a nice dessert will complete the full course of the meal. Chocolate Lava Cake seems to be offered in many restaurants. Well, I am not really a dessert guy. I prefer no cake for dessert but an assorted plate of fruits to complete my meal.

Bread Pudding

For those who do not like Chocolate Lava Cake, they can try this dessert. Something different. I guessed I prefer this. Scooping the hot and cold together is what makes it interesting. I guessed you know what are they.

Overall, it is a nice to dine with friends and family at the Suntec City location. Quite a big place. Able to take quite a lot of people. Food is good. You will save if you use your Entertainer apps. Very convenient as it is near to Promenade MRT.
